Artist Statement

Generation Error is a response to artificial Intelligence—not as a rejection, but as a reckoning. As art becomes increasingly more effortless, infinite, and frictionless, I return to the slow insistence of the hand. Each mark records time, doubt, revision, but most of all, presence. These works insist on the human trace.

You begin with an offer of a “coin” from a friendly crow. This admits entry into a surrealistic world where, as you go, a cast of characters present themselves— The Welcoming Committee, The Mask Maker, The Oracles, The Outcasts. You will regard witnesses, wanderers, and more. Each has their own intention, perhaps friendly or maybe not, but there will be sacrifices along the way.

As you explore, see how your presence causes a disruption, of sorts. This place is unstable— part dream, part aftermath. Spaces and bodies bend. Light behaves strangely. The familiar becomes slightly untrustworthy. The figures are not portraits of people so much as portraits of states of being—confusion, awe, grief, curiosity, tenderness—felt in a time when the boundary between the organic and the synthetic is increasingly porous.

What does authorship feel like when creation no longer requires touch? What happens to memory, imagination, and myth when they are melted and mirrored back to us by machines trained on our collective past? Rather than offering answers, this collection creates a space to wander. It is an insistence on presence. On slowness. Ultimately, on the imperfect, expressive mark as evidence that a person stood here, wrestled with an image, and left something human.

Enjoy your time spent here, and hope your new acquaintances will remember the way out.
